MAKING YOURSELF HEARD IN A CROWD

GETTING A LITTLE HORNY
I like most Amigo owners consider the horn that came stock with our rough 'n' tough SUV to be lame at best. I decided to install a set of air horns to remedy this situation. I bought a set of air horns from the local auto supply store, got them home, opened the hood, then wham! Where does one fit air horns in the engine compartment of such a tightly packed area. I decided to install them where they would best be heard, behind the grill and in front of the radiator. I modified some metal nailing plates, cutting, folding and drilling them into a shape I could use. I mounted both the compressor and the horns on the center support column that is directly behind the grill. I used sheet metal screws to attach my new horns and compressor to this column. I realize the pictures don't really help but, you can see there is enough space to mount the horns and compressor without hindering the hood latch or the appearance of the Amigo. I have had to use my horns from time to time and believe me air horns really get someone's attention. I am considering replacing the horns I have know and installing big rig horns with the big diesel blast. :-)

I have since gone back to electric horns. I bought two plugged them into the factory connections and voila!

I had to change since the air horns were constantly plugging up with sand and dirt and mud and everything else you gather while on an off road adventure. If you get dusty or dirty, save your cash go directly to the electric horns. Stay away from air.
